Thoroughfares
The James White Parkway (South Knoxville Boulevard) and Chapman Highway are two major thoroughfares discussed in Chapter 4, Major Corridors.

Most of the other thoroughfares are winding, two-lane roads. These include Cherokee Trail, Martin Mill Pike, Woodlawn Pike, Davenport Road, Redbud Road, Colonial Drive, Island Home Pike and Old Sevierville Pike. Most of these roads are heavily tree-lined. Planting trees under utility lines and in yards could supplement the existing streetscape. Additionally, there are areas depicted on the map, which should be conserved. The forests that surround Cherokee Trail are one example. Kudzu is often a problem, and programs should be undertaken to eradicate that invasive species.

Neighborhoods
Most of the neighborhoods were designed with curvilinear road systems. Lindbergh Forest, Lake Forest and Colonial Manor. Trees are beginning to be lost in some of the older neighborhoods, and replacement programs, based on an overall neighborhood planting design would be appropriate.

A few of the older neighborhoods have sidewalks that are modestly separated from travel lanes, offering occasional opportunities for planting small trees and planting strips.
