Significant Changes Since Last Update
Several projects, major land developments and community facilities have been completed since 1997 when the previous plan was adopted. Additionally, the adoption of Knoxville-Knox County General Plan 2033 and Knoxville, Farragut and Knox County Growth Policy Plan has bearing on area-wide growth and transportation issues.

Land Use & Zoning Changes

  • Turkey Creek regional retail development
  • Northshore Drive/Pellissippi Parkway development, including Northshore Town Center approval and groundbreaking
  • Commercial corridor development along extension of Parkside Drive
  • Historic Overlay Zone (HZ) in Concord
  • Fox Road Corridor Study

Baptist Hospital West

Baptist Hospital provides a new opportunity for health services closer to the west Knoxville population.

West Valley Middle School

West Valley Middle School opened for the 1999-2000 school year.

Transportation Improvements

  • Extension of Parkside Drive
  • Westland Drive sidewalks
  • I-40/75 interchanges at Pellissippi and Cedar Bluff
  • Alignment of Canton Hollow Road to Lovell Road
  • Realignment of intersection of Gallaher View Road and Westland Drive with the railroad

Community Facility Additions

  • Cedar Bluff and Farragut branch libraries
  • West Valley Middle School
  • Expansions to Parkwest Hospital
  • Baptist Women’s Hospital in Turkey Creek
  • Children’s Hospital on Westland
  • Park improvements at Concord and Carl Cowan Parks, including “The Cove” and splash park
