Sewer, Septic and Water
View Utilities and Septic Constraints Map

Knox-Chapman Utility is the primary provider of water and sewer service in the South County, except along Alcoa Highway, where KUB is the primary provider.

Sewered areas in the South County Sector are limited to Alcoa Highway, Chapman Highway, Governor John Sevier Highway from Chapman Highway to New Hopewell Elementary, and Governor John Sevier Highway from South Doyle High School to Alcoa Highway.

At this time there are no major expansions proposed for sewer provision in the South County Sector. However, it is anticipated that all areas within the planned growth area will be served by sewer at some point, to include the section of Governor John Sevier Highway from Chapman Highway to Alcoa Highway.

It should be noted that Knox-Chapman Utility supports the installation of "grinder pumps" which serve to facilitate the movement of effluent from low-lying areas to nearby sewer trunk lines. Grinder pumps serve one or more housing units by pumping effluent from holding tanks to the trunk line, thereby eliminating the need for land consuming septic fields. KUB is considering the use of grinder pumps for small developments, but remains undecided at this time.
