| The South County has a significant number of historic structures that are eligible for the national registry. Having structures registered can increase the property value as well as help protect the structure from abandonment, demolition, or non-historical renovation. For more information, contact the Historic Preservation Planner at the Metropolitan Planning Commission. | Structures listed on the National Register of Historic Places include the following: Bowman-McBee-Hodges House; Seven Islands Methodist Church; Keener House and outbuildings; Daniel House; Marble Springs (John Sevier House); Riverdale Historic District; New Salem United Methodist Church; Reagan House. | Historic properties can be protected from non-historic land uses through the use of historic zoning overlay (HZ). The only HZ designated areas in the South County Sector are Marble Springs (John Sevier House) and the Reagan House. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
