Located just north of I-40/75 between Weisgarber Road, Middlebrook Pike and I-640, Lonas Drive neighborhood had easy access to the Bearden Village area prior to demolition of the Forest Heights Bridge. A maturing neighborhood with the highest densities and highest number of rental units in the sector, the area is undergoing change as I-40 and other major roads such as Weisgarber and Middlebrook Pike expand around its perimeters. The need for traffic calming and establishing safe pedestrian connections to the Weisgarber and Third Creek Greenways are a couple of the neighborhood’s top concerns. Recent widening of the portion from I-40 Interchange to Coleman provides excellent visibility and access from Interstate 40/75, and the opportunity to consolidate land and create or expand the office district should be looked at in detail with the community.

Lonas Drive intersects with Hollywood Drive, which is located partly in Northwest City sector and partly in West City. The Bearden Village Opportunities Plan addresses some of the concerns of Hollywood Drive residences, by calling for a neighborhood park, drainage improvements and intersection modifications to reduce heavy truck traffic. The Lonas Drive neighborhood wishes to build on the Bearden Village Plan by creating their own opportunities plan, taking the first steps forward to rebuild lost connections.
