Washington Pike: A Rural Heritage Corridor
New development should consist of a series of conservation subdivisions along Washington Pike to preserve views along the corridor and protect environmentally sensitive areas by maintaining large open spaces.

Existing sanitary sewer lines between Roberts Road and Three Ridges Golf Course will make it possible to cluster housing sites on smaller lots and permanently set aside significant parts of the parcels as open space. Economic ventures that would complement the rural setting could include bed and breakfast inns, organic farming and heritage-related enterprises, such as craft shops.

A widened shoulder along Washington Pike will allow safe space for sharing the lanes with bikers, and intersection improvements such as turning lanes will increase overall capacity of the roadway.

New development should be respectful of the rural vernacular architectural styles.
