The Appalachian Mountain Bike Club, a voluntary organization, oversaw and completed the work, including grading, bridge building, and sign posting encompassing more than six miles of new trails. The system is not merely for mountain bikers. The soft surface accommodates runners, hikers, and nature-lovers.

The trail development represents a major step in implementing the community’s park and greenway plan which is significant because public surveys show that citizens want interconnecting greenways more than any other type of recreation in Knoxville.

South Knoxville neighborhoods, like Lake Forest, have greatly appreciated the pathways because people are now pursuing positive activities near their wooded backyards, and they have a nearby setting for a walk in the woods.
