Environmental Conservation Winner:
Turning Leaf at Choto

The developers and their design team, Eastwood Landsacping and Cannon and Cannon engineering, came up with a plan to conserve the heavily wooded site. Houses rest on level clearings while the rugged topography was left intact.

A nature trail system winds through the forests yet is within a short distance of the homes and leads to the recreation center, reducing reliance on car travel. The designers also created wetlands and retention ponds in reducing stormwater impacts. MPC saw this as being extraordinary in conserving a forested, hilly setting.
