If a conventional intersection had been built, acres of Concord Park would have been lost and vehicles would have idled at the red light, releasing more emissions than constantly moving vehicles.
The round-about, the first for Knox County’s road system, solved both problems. It took up less room and has saved fuel and emission costs.
