This former residence in the Morningside neighborhood has been transformed into a cultural and educational center, celebrating Knoxville ’s African-American history. The renovation and additions were designed by Sparkman and Associates. The residential setting above Dandridge Avenue has been attractively maintained. |
Most visitors enter the center across a courtyard, designed in a basket motif- representing a heritage created from many strands which combine in a symbol of unity. |
Well-shaded parking serves visitors and those attending public foundations at the center.
