Dowell
Springs Business Park
Cornerstone Office Building

|
The 2002 winner in the Office category is Dowell Springs Business Park, including the Cornerstone Building and the new Boy Scout headquarters. The park-like qualities of this project, which were designed by Ragan-Smith Associates, are among the best the Commission has seen. Trails meander past lakes and meadows. Its boulevards and sidewalks are lined with maple trees. Historic resources were preserved, including the Civil War-era Lonas Dowell House, which has been handed over to Knox Heritage for restoration. Cornerstone is a fitting name for the park's first building. Its brick facade is punctuated with expanses of glass, providing a welcoming entrance and wonderful views of the rolling terrain. Its architecture resulted from the collaborative efforts of Hutchins Associates and Johnson Architecture. |
