Winning one of the Neighborhood/Civic Achievement awards is Community Place, which the Commission found to be a model for affordable housing. This subdivision was created through a host of partners, including the Knoxville Leadership Foundation, the Community Evangelistic Church, the East Tennessee Foundation and Habitat for Humanity. Twelve families now call Community Place home. Odle and Young designed the various homes, and KUB and Cannon & Cannon Engineering played important roles in site development.

The planning commission agrees with the nominator of this project that Community Place is a valuable example of what can be accomplished when strategic partnerships focus on the good of our urban neighborhoods. All those who participated should be proud of this accomplishment.
